About Classic Checkers (Draughts)

Checkers (also known as Draughts in the UK and Europe, and Damas in Spanish-speaking regions) is an ancient, universally beloved two-player board game of pure diagonal tactics. Played on an 8x8 grid with 12 pieces per player, the goal is to capture all opposing pieces or trap your rival so they cannot make any legal moves.

🎮 Game Rules & Controls

• The Board: 8x8 grid with pieces occupying only the 32 dark squares.
• Regular Moves: Regular pieces slide one square forward diagonally to an unoccupied dark square.
• Mandatory Jumps: If an opponent piece is diagonally adjacent and the square behind it is empty, you must jump and capture it.
• Multi-Jump Chains: If landing on a square reveals another jump opportunity, you must continue the chain until no further jumps exist!
• King Promotion: Reaching the farthest enemy rank crowns your piece into a 👑 King, allowing both backward and forward movement and captures.

🌟 Master Strategies for Victory

• Back-Row Anchor Defense: Keep your back 4 pieces anchored on Row 7 as long as possible. As long as your back row is solid, your opponent cannot crown any Kings!
• Center Dominance: Pieces placed on edge columns (A and H) only attack in one diagonal direction. Control the center squares to maximize tactical flexibility.
• Forced Capture Traps: Use the mandatory capture rule to sacrifice one piece to force your opponent into a double-jump trap that wins multiple pieces back!
